Default mandibular squamous cell, have questions. Please help!

Dutchess is a sweet 6 yr old Dobie girl. She is my heart.....

I am a wreck.
We found this a little over a month ago. Thought at first that she may have been stung in the mouth as she tends to snap at flying things in the yard. When it didn't improve after a week, we headed to the vet. The next week he removed a growth about the size of a dime(but roundish). This we may 18, today it has already grown back is about the size of a pencil eraser and is bleeding... the cat scan showed some bone involvement around the tooth that it is closest to.
After doing all of the blood work, CAT scan of face and chest and visit with surgeon we have opted in the surgical removal of a portion of her right mandible. They will be removing from just behind the canine through the first molar. They seem to think that they should get good clean margins with this aggressive approach... Her chest and lymph nodes are clean.
Has anyone out there dealt with this? I need to know what to expect from someone that has been through this with their baby. I am only getting the vets side. I can't find much on the web from real people.

Thank you for your help.

Wink Re: Duchess

Dear Stephanie,
Welcome to this site, but sorry you had to visit1. Our Benny had Mast Cell Tumour Cancer, but a friend from here, Brian Riddle has a dog Molly who has something very similar to your Dutchess. Molly was diagnosed in November 2008 and was given only a couple of months to live. Happy to say she is still with Brian and doing very well.

He said I can give you his email address. He is just great and I am sure will add hope for you with re: to Duchess.

Keep the faith. There is ALWAYS hope!

Brian's email address: Brian Riddle
E-mail Address(es):
brianriddle803@gmail.com

You might also wish to check out the following site:http://www.herbal-treatments.com.au/...mous_cell.html

I know that Brian contacted Dr. McDowell for Molly and put her on Maritime Bark extract which he believes prolonged her life until he got knowledge of proper diet and other supplements.

Prayers go out to you and lots of hugs to Dutchess.

Blessings,
Joanne
