Hi Dale,
Sometimes with nausea, their food preferences change...sometimes hourly. Sometimes something they loved will turn into something they turn up their noses at. It's frutstrating and usually temporary, but just keep trying different things. Liverwurst was a good bet for us. Have you tried that yet? It's gross (as far as I'm concerned) but the boys LOVE it! And, the good thing is Dublin's eating something and seems hungry. Did they give you any anti-nausea pills to take home? If not, try Slippery Elm (you can get it at your local drug store or health food store). Also, are you giving Dublin Pepcid or Prilosec? It could be sour stomach now and not nausea. Hamlet got (and still gets) one Prilosec daily in the morning. I've noticed on the couple times I ran out and he didn't get it, that his interest in food was lessened. I'm pulling for you and Dublin! Hello,
You have received excellent suggestions and I really don't have much to add. My boy Tanner recieves a prilosec every morning with his various chemo drugs and is doing well. Luckily Tanner has always wanted to eat anything and everything so I have not faced a diminishing appetite yet. Liverwurst is an excellent option to try and I heard lamb is also easy on the digestive trac. It has a stronger smell which sometimes makes the food more appealing. Good luck and keep us informed on how Dublin is doing. Wendy & Tanner |

I almost forgot...another trick to try when their appetite isn't what it should be. If it is nausea and the smell is causing them to turn up their noses, try freezing some wet food and give them a wet food popsicle. I haven't had to resort to that yet, but I have heard that it works. And, Wendy is right, lamb is very good for upset tummies; it's very mild on the stomachs.

You guys are great. You have all helped me out with suggestions and i do try most of them. I will try all that you have suggested. He actually ate some ice cream from a liitle girl today. LOL It was so cute seing her let Dublin lick her ice cream cone. LOL He also ate a dog treat from an older lady. He ate 3 pieces and then sstarted spitting them out. I have my suspicion it is up set stomach a I will try prilosec. How much should I give a 27 pound dog? Once again thanks for all the support I have been getting from you guys.

Hamlet's 75 lbs and gets one Prilosec daily. Maybe try cutting them in half? I'm not sure that it matters as much for dosing on the antacids. Any one else know?

Thank you. I did a full prilosec this morning. Lets keep fingers crossed that it helps. He is getting weaker by the day. I noticed that he has been spitting out his meds. I do put it down his throat but the little shit hides the fact he spits out. I noticed a few meds under the bed, beside couch and in the dirty clothes bascket. I really thought he swallowed all his meds. I will have to really check next time that it goes down.
