Hello everyone, I'm here to get as much info as I can in regards to herbal and supplement treatments for my dog, Angel. It all started when my family noticed a lump near her left should and she was limping. X-rays suggested something serious so we scheduled surgery to see if it could be removed.
The vet was able to remove a portion of it but not all because it was attached to one of her ribs. We were surprised when the biopsy came back and they said it was a harmless fibrosis mass. We thought she would be ok. But a couple nights ago, she started coughing up blood. We rushed her to an emergency vet who took x-rays and noticed additional masses that weren't there before. The next day we took Angel back to her normal vet and compared the the new x-rays to ones taken before her surgery. The vet confirmed that new masses had developed over the last 2 weeks since surgery, and that it was spreading to the lungs. Right now we're prepared for the worst but I'm still hoping for a miracle. As of now, Angel is comfortable. She's actually been in decent shape so far. We have her on 3 medications... Metacam, cephalexin, & tussigon. One's an antibiotic, one's a pain killer, and the other is a cough suppressant so she can breath easier. So far she is getting up and walking around but she does rest alot to. We try to limit her activity so she doesn't get out of breath. Sometimes she eats and sometimes not. When she does, it's not in big portions. We've been giving her boiled chicken with some carrots. I also chop up hot dogs for her because I hide some of her pills in them. She's very smart when it comes to pills. She knows we hide them in certain foods. It's tough getting her to take them but it's for the best. We give some of her pills to her in butter and then let her have some vanilla yogurt as a little treat. Even though the vet has given her a bleak outlook, I'm still willing to try alternative methods. If not for a miracle then atleast to buy some more time. I'm interested in any suggestions for diet or herbal remedies and supplements. Can anyone suggest any supplements or herbs that won't interfere with the meds? Sorry if this was long but that's what I'm up against. |

Hi:
Never worry about how much you write, the more information the better! My Cocker, Rocky had Lymphoma in Sept. 08 and survived for a year with chemo and holistic help. We gave him flax seed oil and cottage cheese blended for an afternoon snack as well as meds from K9 Immunity at Aloha Pharmaceuticals. He managed another year of very healthy activity. Make sure that each vet knows what you are doing so that there are no contradictory medicines taking place. Not that this is medical advice but make sure you spend as much time enjoying each other, lots of hugs and love for both of you. It's amazing how much that calms them down and makes your bond closer! Good luck and let us know how things progress. The cottage cheese stuff is The Budwig protocol and can be checked out on line. Prayers to you and your family John |
