My Dear Jeanette,
I completely understand what you are saying and how you are feeling because our Benny had the same thing, Mast Cell Tumours. Check out the posts on nutrition and supplement. Benny was on quite a few supplements and had a great diet which gave him more time even though the cancer had returned. Our vet prescribed Prednisone in the last few months and one of the tumours did disappear completely, but some of the others grew. Enjoy every moment with Brandy and love him with everything you have in you. He has no idea that he is ill. If he still enjoys playing and his walks that is a good thing. Hopefully he is eating. Take each day one day at a time and try not to be emotional in front of him because he will definitely sense your mood. You have come to the right place for support and for information. Everyone here UNDERSTANDS your pain. WELCOME! There is nothing like the companionship of a dog and the unconditional love they give every day cannot be measured. My prayers go out to you and Brandy at this difficult time. Blessings, Joanne & Shadow Shadow with hearts from Linda.jpg |

Hi Again Jeanette,
Have you thought of hiding Brandy's meds in a bit of fine liverwurst? That worked for Benny and we called it his "appetizers." Benny gained a lot of weight on prednisone as well. What are you feeding Brandy? This is a dreadful disease and the best pets in the whole world do not deserve to get it!! Blessings, Joanne |

Testimonials, Marble Overcoming Mast Cell Tumors
Above is the webpage for Dr. Robert McDowell's herbal treatments for dogs with cancer. You might want to check this out. Many here have contacted Dr. McDowell and had good results. Liverwurst is a liver sausage available here in Canada in Grocery stores. I don't know if you can get it where you live. Supplements can also be hidden in a small amount of soft cheese or peanut butter. I cooked pieces of chicken breast in a small amount of olive oil and with a touch of turmeric which is an antioxidant spice for fighting cancer in animals and humans. Brandy might like cottage cheese with flaxseed oil. If he is enjoying his food that is important. Read through some of the posts on Food and Nutrition. There are tons of informative posts. Good luck and hugs to Brandy! Blessings, Joanne |

Make sure you get PURE or ORGANIC peanut butter without sugar or salt or preservatives. CANCER FEEDS ON SUGAR. Good Luck and know we are here for you when you need us. Hugs to Brandy! Blessings, Joanne & Shadow Last edited by Benpaws; 01-31-2010 at 11:41 AM. |
