I am afraid to be seeing things that arent there but I think the huge swelling on the one side of his neck is down a bit. Dante does not mind the syringeful of thick brown medicine twice a day because he gets his big bowlful of food right afterwards. The formula is supposed to give him some energy and he was chasing the cats today-a great sign. Also I took him for a 6 plus block walk and he sniffed and peed to his heart's content. And he's eating well. To think I was ready to put him down and he is not ready to go at all yet.
Thank you ALL for the prayers and well-wishes-we feel them and we get to enjoy Dante for at least the present. He is in no pain whatsoever and seems happy and not so sleepy. |

When I read the post about Dante's last walk my heart sank and I cried. You and Dante were the first ones to answer my call when Madchen was first diagnosed. You both have been such a help and inspiration to us.
Now I'm reading Dante's update and I am so happy to hear that he is better. I know how hard this "bastard" is on all of us; critters and their people. I pray for both of you. I ask God's mercy and love be with you in this time of trial. I'm a big proponent of hugs and kisses for our furry babies. Please give Dante a hug and kiss for Madchen and I. Jackie, Madchen's mom |

Dear TJ, I just was able to get on this site again and seen that Dante is doing better. Sorry I jumped the gun. I was just basing it on your post. I feel I just added more misery to your situation. I am glad he is on medication and was able to chase the cat. I will continue to pray for you and him. Jim

Thanks for your accolades, but I am just an ordinary person, no better than anyone else here. I just so understand the "pain" of dealing with cancer in a pet and it breaks my heart to read these stories.
Everyone reached out to me when Benny was fighting for his young life and I promised him when I was saying goodbye that I would continue to reach out and help others. Sometimes, just words can make a difference. Thank you Friend! Blessings, Joanne |

Dante had another decent day. He ate well and begged for food off of my plate, peed and pooped well (who ever thought you'd be happy to clean up dig piles in the yard?)and actually leaped off the back porch into the yard, which he has not done in a few weeks. (Its only a couple feet high).
Every day without pain and with all his faculties is a blessing. Reading the other sad posts drives that home to me even more. |

I didn't know the walk on Saturday was going to be his last. I have been beside myself today, it was a gloomy day raining hard all morning-hard. At about 1 pm, the sun broke through, the skies cleared, and the rain stopped completely. I went out and man-Dante would have LOVED this day. Its about 50 degrees and the sun is shining.
This would sound crazy to anyone else but the people on this forum, but I took Dante's collar and leash out of the drawer, put it in my sweatshirt pocket, and hit the trail. I took our last walk on his 1.1 mile route that was our twice daily bonding for the last 4 months. I cried most of the way.I missed him every time I saw one of the spots he always stopped and "marked". A big lab, that used to come out and try and chase Dante on our walks, came out and started barking at me, but I looked him in the eyes and he stopped and walked away. |
