Hello,
I am the mom of the most amazing Dober girl in the world. Chepi and I united about three years ago when I fell in love with her at a Doberman rescue. We have had the most blessed three years a family could have. Two and a half weeks ago I took Chepi to a highly reputable animal hospital to have ACL surgery on her right rear knee. Before I was able to make it back to my house from dropping her off I received a call from the hospital. They had taken pre-op x-rays and found that she had osteosarcoma, or bone cancer. To make things worse the cancer had already spread to her lungs. Chepi is hanging in there. Walking is getting a bit more difficult but her spirit is flawless. Everyone tells me to "just love her". Quite frankly that is the part that is so easy. I wonder how folks cope with the daunting day of decision. I have been in this place before and it really is hard. Being careful not to be selfish, knowing when it's time....I suppose she will tell me.
