He was happy and even gave me a tail wag. I walked him around the neighberhood, actually only a few houses from mineto visit people that gave him treats. He did not take the treats. To my surprise he started to eat the dried cat food one of my neighbers just put out for a stray cat. Not sure I should have let him but what the heck. Going to google about cat food and dogs and see if its okay to do. I will try chicken nuggets tomorrow. I am so happy for Dublin because I can tell he feels so much better. Something inside me keeps telling "just get him to eat". Im not sure if they used the nausea meds or not. They did not send any home with me. I will just see how things go for a day and if he needs another shot then a shot he will get. Once again, THANK YOU it does help me to cope.
Good news. The prednisone will open up his appetite but Im not sure about the cat food. I have learned here from many the best foods for cancer. Check it out and try to follow it. It took me time but Im getting there too! On my way to Chinese medicine man with my little boy......

Thanks and good luck with medicine man. Last night Dublin was totally different in that he was showing signs of energy and hungry. This morning he is back to looking sad and not hungry. I just feed him a small amount of chicken and gravy baby food with his pred. It was only 1/4 ounce but did this to get his preds down. I hope he changes once the preds kick in. Let me know what the chinese meds are.

The wet cat food is actually higher in protein than dog food so for a cancer dog it's good on the short term. One of the times Hamlet was hit particularly hard by his chemo drugs and went on a hunger strike, I mixed baby food with water and used a needleless syringe and squirted it into his mouth. It was tedious but I really think it helped to stimulate his appetite. Also, canned cubed chicken (the kind you can get at the grocery next to the canned tuna) was a favorite while he was on the same hunger strike. Once Dublin starts to eat regularly, try giving him a Prilosec or Pepcid daily too.

He did hold his food down. Today just getting him to eat again is a challenge. He can be as hard headed as I am. He is tolerating it more now and not being ugly.

Default Tick Tock

Tick Tock. Time is not on our side especially with cancer. Thats the first thing the Vet tells you. Monday is another big decision day and it cant come fast or slow enough. My Dads death was due to a timing issue and so it makes it hard for me to see each day pass with nothing productive being done. Just keeping Dublin comfortable is all I can do and its not good enough for me. I am a fighter and get it done person, not a wait till I get around to it. Life can be hard sometimes and there is only so much people can do so faith and prayer is all I got, besides you guys. Keeping up a fight and never backing down.

Yay Dublin!! Keep up the good work! Every little step forward is progress and his keeping the food down is progress. Tomorrow, just enjoy him and the time you spend with him. Worry is waisted energy and you'll need plenty of that as you keep make those little steps of progress.

Unhappy

I have nothing more to add except to say I keep Dublin in my prayers. This place is becoming more and more difficult to visit as there are so many very young dogs getting the "demon cancer" and so many of us lose them despite our efforts.

good luck on your "journey."

Blessings,
Joanne & Shadow

Thank You! I always said that these animals are Gods. He has only loaned them to us until they have fullfiled their purpose. I want to think like it was my dog and I loaned him or her out to someone who needed the dog. I have known this dog for many years. Lets say 100 years or so. I have gotten to the dog and everything about it. I now must give him to someone. I would also miss him very much until I get to see him again. This is my idea of why we have dogs. It doesnt make it any easier when we have to give them back, but I know just as God knows we will see them again. That kinda makes it easier on me. I plan to help people after Dublin is done with his deeds here so that maybe I can ease there loss or feel better during this terrible time. I will help with donations and research whenever I can afford to do it. I just happen to e in a really bad financial crisis at the moment and not always the case. I will try to help those in need. Keep a positive outlook and just enjoy every chance you can to spend with your dog. We all die and we know they will die at some point we just want them to die old and not sick. I just cried out to God why this way. No! No! not die of a sickness or in pain. Well the only other way I guess would be the way most people would choose and that would be in our sleep. Anyway.....just my way of thinking.
