Benny was a miniature schnauzer.
We had two schnauzers before him....Wolfgang who lived to be 10 1/2 and died of complications due to diabetes. His brother Willie died in 2002 at age 13 with renal failure. Willie went for his usual walk on a cold January night, came home, hid under a desk and was very sick. We took him to the vet the next morning and it was his final visit. He was "put to sleep" and we were in shock. No time to prepare for this ending. Benny was a nephew to Wolfgang and Willie. Their father Maverick died of cancer at age 14. We have no idea how Benny got cancer. We were so careful with his diet and he always had filtered water and many long walks etc. You can view his album if you check under my user name "Benpaws" and see his pictures and those of our present schnauzer Shadow. Take care. Blessings, Joanne & Shadow |

well can you believe this. Dropped him off this morning and the vet called about an hour later to say she couldn't do the surgery. The meds worked too well and now she can't tell where the center is. It was originally a "bump" and then when it blew all up it was about the size of a 50 cent piece on his little foot so they started the steriods and anti-histamine and it flattened back out now. On his foot is an area without hair now and it's red and he licks it but it's flattened. She said she can't tell where the center is now so she would have to take off at least one whole toe which she didn't want to do if she could avoid it. So now no steriods for a week or 2 and see if we can get it to "puff" back up. Can you believe it.

That is unbelievable. Is she sure it is MCT?
Keep us posted. You get yourself emotionally prepared for whatever will be and then this little "setback." Take care of you and hugs to Buddy. Blessings, Joanne & Shadow |

She still seems to think it is since it reacted to the antihistamine and steriods. From all I've read it sounds like it but I just don't know what to think. Yes, it was already an emotional day and now it's just prolonged and we wait. i tried to take a photo of it. I just am stunned really.

So we go back today for our check up and we'll see. It looks alot better, you can hardly tell where the "bump" was to begin with. We'll see if she still thinks MCT and surgery or what. Also taking in his sister (same parents different litters) who has developed 2 bumps on her back leg. Now hers look different than his but none the less. So today at 5 is our appt. we'll see what she says and wants to do.
