Default Hoped I would never have to post here...

....but our dog Napoleon was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. He's a 6 year old Sharpei Ridgeback mix. We went to our initial evaluation and were probably given the same recommendations as everyone. He's been on prednisone for about a week with good results. Its so nice to see his appetite return and looking like his old self. Now we're just contemplating which chemo treatment, if any, to start him on. Not fun.... as I'm sure you all can relate.

Wow-your dog looks so much like my Ridgeback mix Hannah! My Sharpei mix Dante passed away from Lymphoma 5 days before Christmas. He was 8 1/2. Our vet was shocked that a Sharpei mix would have Lymphoma, and here is another one.
While you are waiting, be sure you get started on some good supplements and a GRAIN FREE DIET (carbs feed cancer). Canine Immune System Support,Agaricus Bio, Artemisinin would be a great start.
We are here for you.

Welcome and sorry you need to be here. My Hamlet was diagnosed at the end of January with Stage Va, B-cell lymphoma. We went the chemo route with complimentary holistic treatments. Hamlet just finished his chemo protocol on June 28th with a very good quality of life throughout. We go back this Friday to rerun the full diagnostic testing. TJ has all very good suggestions. In addition, I'd recommend switching to bottled or filtered water if you haven't already. One other word of caution: if you are seriously contemplating going with chemo, get Napoleon OFF the pred immediately. Whatever protocol you use will include pred with the chemo drugs but if you start pred only prior to chemo there is the chance that it will cause some drug resistance and render the chemo less effective. I know that sounds counter-intutitive but unfortunately it is the case. You may want to pick up a couple of books that I've found immensely helpful as well: Laurie Kaplan's "Help Your Dog Fight Cancer" and Shawn Messonier's "The Holistic Vet's Guide to Preventing and Fighting Cancer in Dogs." Best of luck as you begin your battle. Keep up the good fight, Napoleon! NOT TODAY, NOT WITHOUT A FIGHT!
