Default NASAL cancer: TRANSITIONAL CELL CARCINOMA

Hello there,

my sweetheart Luna was diagnosed with TCC (in her nose and sinus) at the end of April this year.
We decided for a palliative radiation treatment... and are hoping everything will be better than expected (prognosis after palliatove radiation is, on average, 6 to 9 month... a year if extremely lucky).

Is there any other dog diagnosed with a nasal tumor? How is the pup doing? which treatments did you choose for your fur-friend?
I'd like to share advice and experiences with other people having the same situation...

Alessia and sweet Luna

Hi Alessia,
My baby, Hamlet, has lymphoma so I can't help you with Luna's diagnosis. But, I did want to welcome you to this group even though we'd all rather not have to be here. Someone here will surely be able to lend some advice and experiences. Regardless of the type of cancer, you will want to do a few things that are universal:
1. Switch to a grain free diet; cancer feeds on carbs.
2. Switch to bottled or filtered water.
3. No more vaccinations.
4. A good Omega-3 supplement is usually recommended.
Best of luck to you and Luna in your battle.
Michelle & Hamlet (and Rufus, too)

Wink Re: Luna

One of our members Brian Riddle has a dog Molly who was diagnosed with nasal cancer in November 2007 and was given only weeks to live. She is still alive and doing well.

Brian has allowed me to give his email address and I know he will be of great help to you.

Good Luck!

Blessings,

Thanks a lot! I emailed him and he was sooo kind and available.

I didn't tell you that my dog and I are Italian and here we actually have almost no holistic vets.... just a sort of holistic medicine called "homotoxicology".

Does anyone know any great American holistic vet? I'd just need an opininion on the possibility of using some drugs together...
I'm willing to pay for the consultation but need to be sure the vet is a serious and experienced holistic vet.... if you know someone who can be available to help me via email/video/whatever.... PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP.

I was wondering for example:
Do those of you who are treating your dogs "holistically" also use traditional drugs?

In my case I'm also giving PIROXICAM to my dog... and a lot of "drops" of every kind + an injection of different "homotoxicological" vials... but no herbal remedies... but I don't know if I should choose between the two approaches...

what's you experience... do you use both "natural" and "traditional" drugs?

I used both chemotherapy and holistic supplements as complimentary treatments while Hamlet was going through his chemo protocol. Now that his chemo is complete, we are still using the holistic supplements and added in an antioxidant and multi-vitamin.
I don't have an appointment with our holistic vet for another few weeks but I can ask if she'd be willing to exchange emails. In the meantime, check out this website: AHVMA - American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. You may be able to find one who can consult for you. Also, try to order Shawn Messonier's "The Natural Vet's Guide to Preventing and Treating Cancer in Canines"; it's very helpful in providing information on all the different supplements and herbs and natural cancer treatments; I got my copy through Amazon.com books.
My holistic has told me that she thinks ALL dogs should be on a probiotic and a good Omega-3 (like Cod Liver Oil). For a probiotic she recommends Animal Essentials which we order online at Animal Essentials - Premium quality supplements for dogs and cats. I don't know if they'd ship to Italy but it's worth investigating. For the Omega-3, she recommeds Nordic Naturals Cod Liver Oil; I get that through her but you could probably find it online as well. Here's a website that I order some of Hamlet's supplements through: Only Natural Pet Store - Dogs Cats Holistic Supplies Products Food Treats Vitamins Medicine Supplements.
Best of luck!

Default Thanks

Has anyone of you heard of something called "Labo Life 2LC1" and of some other GUNA and HEEL products to fight cancer?or... are they only used in Europe?

That is what I'm using together with an anti-inflammatory drug called PIROXICAM which should reduce the "angiogenesis"...

But here no news about all the supplements and vitamins and enzymes you DO use in USA.

If you can... give me your vet's email in a private message and I'll try to email and ask her directly (if so please tell me who you are so that I can tell her how I got her address).

Thanks a lot,

Default My dog, too.

Hi Alessia,

My dog Sadie was just diagnosed with nasal TCC, and in my searchings online I found your post. I was just wondering how things went with Luna, and if you might have some tips to share. It seems this is a relatively uncommon cancer, so any advice you'd have to give would be amazing.

Thanks,

Charlotte
