Default Joanne and Benny

Hello Everyone,
My name is Joanne and my beloved 6 year old schnauzer Benny has Mast Cell Tumour (Stage 2.) I first noticed a very small lump on his right side when he was not quite 4 and we took him to the vet who didn't seem concerned but told us to "keep and eye on it." Since we had two other schnauzers before Benny and they both had lumps and bumps as they aged, we thought it was similar when it started to grow. To make a long story short, after 3 subsequent visits to the vet FINALLY the lump was checked and Benny was in surgery the following morning. That was November 13, 2007. No more bumps appeared until July of this year and now there are two more and one is growing rather quickly. I have been in touch with a friend I met through the internet who is helping me with supplements etc. and so far Benny is eating well and is energetic but we know our time with him is limited.
My prayers go out to you all who are facing these difficult days with your beloved "best friend."
Thanks to Ted we now a place to share.

Default hi benpaws

hi joanne

just to let you know my harry was put to sleep on 19 december - he never gave us the sign we look for - i think he would have fought to his last breath had he the choice - but we could no longer make him comfortable from the itching from his hundreds of tumors on his little beagle body - and the bleeding - we miss him so very very much - our hearts still ache constantly - hope you guys are doing okay

thanks all for your support

Hi Sonya,
I have just become a member, and saw your message.
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dog Harry, you have my thoughts and sympathy, the loss of our beloved animals is always incredibly hard to bear, but especially so when you and they have put up a brave battle against such dreadful diseases such as cancers and the like, may we soon have the answers to cure ourselves and our animals.Ted`s contribution to this field is fantastic.
Best regards and take care,
dottie

Dearest Sonya,
My heart goes out to you. I am so very sad that you have lost Harry. How you will miss him!
Benny is on his second round of prednisone and the tumours are not reducing as they were before. I HATE the word CANCER.
God Bless you in the days ahead. You will be in my prayers and in my heart.
This is a very difficult time for you.

Hugs, Joanne (Benpaws)
