I was not aware of this so thought I would pass it on. When I took Goobie to a holistic vet she put him on a home cooked diet. As it was summer Goobie was panting quite heavily and she advised not to give him BEEF as this is a hot food. Give him Chicken, Bison, or any wild meat. He had a low pulse so it would be too hard for his system to digest raw meat, so I cooked it-medium. He also could have sardines in water.
Again check with your Vet as they know the best treatment for your dog, giving you information so you know what questions to ask. Kerri |

When you say that beef if a "hot" food, do you mean that it raises the dogs body temperature? After my weimaraner was diagnosed with Grade I Mast Cell Tumors (all completely removed thankfully) I switched him from NutroMax to the BARF diet. I have been preparing his food myself and use ground beef (27% fat) as the main meat source. I also include salmon, ground chicken, ground turkey, along with the various vegetables. He seems to be doing great on it.
