I lost two dogs Buddy, German Shepard 9 1/2 and Brandi Shepard mix 10 1/2 this past year. Buddy had type 4 tumor in his elbow, which required an amputation. We did the amputation and went to Dr. Wen in the Hamptons. He recovered great and I beleieve the herbs that he was taking worked to cure him. However, 4 months later he stopped getting up and I brought him to a neurologist and they thought it was degenative myelopothy or the cancer could have spread to the spine. His symptoms were leaning towards DM but there was no way to be sure. So I got 4 months with Buddy after he was DX with cancer. Six months later Brandi starting acting weird she wasn't getting up and not really eating. I brought her to the Dr. and test results came back with a dx of lyme disease. We started treatment for that but she just got worse. I brought to the hospital and after four days there the test results came back: liver cancer that spread to the spleen. Surgery was not an option, so we tried chemo. She just got so bad so quick. She never came home agian. We also tried acupunture. I would have done anything to help her but it was too late. I miss them so much. They were my babies. I did change their food and tried supplements but it didn't work.

How are you doing? Sorry to hear about your loss not once but twice and I think the loss of our loved ones is the toughest thing to go through.
This is the place to post your thoughts and read comments from others as you are not alone. I don't think we realize how much a part of our lives our dogs had become until they leave us. My Goobie passed away November 7 and it is very lonely without him. I to only had 3 months after he was diagnosis with cancer. I miss him most at night as he always waited for me to go to bed and we would climb the stairs together. I know how you are feeling and we can only take 1 day at a time. Kerri |

I am so sad for both of you and your great loss. I hope you have a good support system around you and if not, come here where everybody understands your pain. You will be added to my nightly prayers.
My heart goes out to you. In Friendship, Joanne ( Benpaws) |
