I never was a firm believer in the idea of herbs being able to treat advanced problems such as cancer, but I have definitely found something incredible. And it's working for my Grizzly boy.
Essiac is a mixture of herbs normally in tea form. It was discovered by Canadian Native Americans and put to great use by Nurse Rene Caisse, who treated a vast number of terminally ill cancer patients. The way it works is it purges your body of its toxins. Humans and dogs alike can use it, healthy or not, and feel its benefits. If one is healthy, s/he may take Essiac on a daily regimen for six weeks and feel the physical relief it provides. If one is stricken with cancer or another illness, Essiac is to be taken for twelve weeks. When you place your order online or by the phone for the first time, you receive instructions on how often and when to use Essiac. For my dog, a 95 pound German Shepherd, we opted for the vegi-capsules form rather than trying to pour tea down his mouth. We give him four capsules twice a day, and now we have about three weeks left of our regimen. The lump on his tail, originally slightly larger than a quarter, is now down to a pea. Over time, we began to see the edges of his tumor softening and disappearing, until we could see noticable differences in its size from day to day. First, however, the tumor hardens incredibly before softening to tissue and finally disappearing. Now that we are down to the size of a pea, we are not seeing the major differences from day to day, as the process is now going slower as we are getting to the root of the problem. However, it still is on the decrease and I can only hope that it will be gone from his body soon. I definitely recommend giving it a shot; you have nothing to lose. If this works, we are basically not only saving our dog, but salvaging the beautiful tail we would have otherwise lost. I refuse to lose any part of Grizzly to this battle. Hi there
I am reading about supplements on this site for certain forms of cancer. My dog, Corona was diagnosed with liver cancer about 2 months ago. She is my baby - a 10 1/2 year old Rottie. We also have my baby Tonka - a 9 year old Rottie. We now have Corona on Prednisone - as her legs were swelling badly and she wasn't really eating. NOW she is like a new dog! Greets me at the door and is a piggy when it comes to her food! Plays like she used to, etc. What other supplements would you recommend? Also, how bad is Prednisone for her to be on every day? The vet said when I see him in Dec - if she looks good we will probably knock her dosage down a bit. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks! |

Hi there. I'm not an advocate for Western Meds ie prednisone, as they may help with symptoms but not the cause, and eventually do more damage as they don't support the immune system. Do your best to boost Corona's immune system so she is able to fight the cancer herself. Nettle tea is a good blood cleanser tea, raw foods as much organic as possible, NO cooked or processed foods - ie dog biscuits etc. Lots of raw brocolli and fresh green leafy veges (no silverbeet juice as it's not good for older/arthritic dogs), essiac tea. 5 mushroom extract may be useful too. Best of luck, keep positive as she will respond well to your positive energy, visualise her a picture of health every day and surround her with your love - it's definitely the best medicine.

I have to agree with Lisa. Prednisone is a steroid that reduces inflamation, but does nothing to fix the problem of the liver cancer. In fact, it reduces the dogs immune system making it difficult to fight the cancer (but does help manage pain and discomfort).
Does your vet have a program to fight the cancer? If not, I'd start looking to find something to help your dogs immune system and any holistic treatments that may help fight liver cancer specifically. |

Thank you for all your responses. Corona is not having a good day. She wasn't very hungry for any kind of food yesterday - so we gave her eggs, which she devoured. Then today, she is breathing weird - very slow. Her belly doesn't look good. I don't know if she is in pain. I can't stand the thought of her being in pain.
I don't know what to do. I am beside myself. I don't know if it is too far gone to start trying the herbs, etc. She won't even eat hamburger meat right now - not sure if I could get raw broccoli down. I am not ready to say goodbye. She is my baby and I would do anything in the world for her. I'm a mess. |

How is Corona doing? I hope she is doing better. My prayers are with you. My Hanna is having surgery in 3 weeks to cut out a growth and have it biopsied. I can only imagine what you must be going through...
