My dog Daisy was diagnosed with Lympoma about about four weeks ago. I've got her on Paw Paw Cel Reg, Essiac, K9 Immunity and I've changed her diet to raw and no grains. I'm wondering if anybody else has used Paw Paw and what there experience was. Daisy seems to be responding very well so far, her lymph glands have gone down (except for the lumps) and her energy is getting better. I'm also giving her Silicea 6x (homeopathic).
Here is a web site with information about Paw Paw: http://www.pawpawresearch.com/ The gist is that the acetogenins found in Paw Paw extract reduce the production of cellular energy and because cancer cells have a high energy usage they "starve". It also has the effect of reducing rapid cell growth. This is an alternative treatment developed for people but was originally tested on rodents and dogs. The K9 Immunity is mushroom extracts which are a source of beta-glucans that stimulate the immune system and the release of "natural killer" cells that destroy cancer cells among other things. There is some information out there that says that you shouldn't use ant-oxidants along with Paw Paw but recent tests have indicated that they don't afffect one another so I am going to add raspberry seed powder to Daisy's mix for the anti-oxidant and ellagic acid benefits and cumin seed powder; a good source for these is http://www.botanicoil.com/. I may add a few other herbs such as Cat's Claw, Scullcap and Pau D'arco as I get more information on their toxicity and combined effects. There's some indication that the Essiac ingredients shouldn't be used with Paw Paw so I will probably stop using that for a while until I can confirm or deny it. I've also added spirolina and a probiotic to the "healthy powder" mix. I've added Pau D'Arco which is supposed to work well with Paw Paw. Last edited by yoda105; 06-23-2009 at 11:02 PM. |

hi yoda i havnt had any experience with that but i sincerely believe that my grand old lady had a much better quality of life from having a raw diet and natural treatments to enhance the 'vet treatments' she was far more active and interested and i only wish i had discovered all this before she got the tumour. the very best of luck to you both and im sure that daisy knows that you are doing your best. im so pleased to hear that she is responding well

Here's an article about the ellagitannins in raspberry seed powder and how they work: Cancer Epidemic In Dogs, Medicine Chest In A Bottle, prevention, chemotherapy, effects of inbreeding, spay/neuter, radiation, ellagic acid, cancer cells, by Susan Thorpe-Vargas Ph.D
