I have a golden retriever who was diagnosed with a fibrosacroma on his rib cage. The tough part is he will only be five years old in a couple of weeks. The tumor, which was the size of a softball by the time it was removed was surgically removed 8 weeks ago, but has already reappeared. We have decided not to try radiation or a very invasive second surgery. So, I am researching supplements and wondering if anyone has any experience with maritime pine bark extract or supplements from Robert McDowell, a herbalist in Australia.

First of all, I am very sorry to hear about your Golden Retriever and the recurrence of a tumour. You might want to check this website and ask Suzi Beber who has studied herbal supplements and could probably tell you about this particular one. She lost her Golden Retriever BLUES to lymphoma in 2001 and BLUES was not quite 6.
The website is: www.smilingblueskies.com you can read all about BLUES and Suzi and lots of information on Cancer in dogs. I just went into the following site on MARITIME PINE BARK:http://www.herbal-treatments.com/art...pine_bark.html Further information on using this supplement for dogs with cancer:http://www.herbal-treatments.com/dog...pine_bark.html Sounds like a good supplement to be using. I may look into it myself. Good Luck. Suzi has helped us with many helpful ideas and supplements for our Benny. Joanne (Benpaws) Last edited by Benpaws; 01-04-2009 at 10:03 AM. Hi TamaraB;
My dog Molly has been on maritime pine bark and scc from Robert McDowell Herbs and she is doing fine.In January 08 my vet only gave Molly a couple of months to survive. She has been on Robert McDowell's MPB and SCC form Feb/4 and now she runs around and kind of trotts around the back yard.In fact I have ordered more MPB and another special mixture they made up.Molly has a tumor in her mouth,I took some pictures of her mouth and emailed them to Robert.He then made up a special mixture of mistletoe and some other herbs.They are really good at the herb place for returning emails and answering all your questions.They also told me to spray Molly's mouth with Colliodal Silver as it kills bacteria. I hope this helps you, They have treated Molly and myself well Brian |

Hi
I have been down with a spring cold since Monday and as my daughter works part time in a Health Food store she brought something home for me to try. It was Colloidal Silver. My sore throat was gone immediately after gargling and I am using the nasal spray to clear my nose. It does work. I have attached a page I found on the web site for what it can be used for, however please check with your Vet for dosage before giving to your animals. For any animals that are recovering from surgery I would check to see if it could be used as a spray on stitches to aid in eliminating infections. I just recieved Molly's herbal treatment bottles Monday,from Robert McDowell.The very good thing at herbal-treatments.com is first you send them an email with the problems your pet is having.Everytime you email them,the page comes up with the problem with your pet.They suggest the best formula for your pet.Molly has been doing well on their product,They suggested a spray for Molly's nasal tumor,and when I spray it on she doesn't seem to mind.I actually believe it is shrinking or it doesn't seem so swollen.Before she was not very active and now with this herbal stuff,she kind of trotts around all the time.
