Hi Robin,
Yes, we are giving Benny one capsule of Artemisinin each day and he takes it readily. I did put out a post on this drug and Ted says to be CAUTIOUS of the use of it. You might want to read his post on the CAUTION. I am working with a friend who has studied this drug for many years and finds it safe and effective. In fact she has a friend who has breast cancer and is on Artemisinin and the cancer is now reduced from "high risk" to "low risk." Good luck. We each do what we can. However, as Ted said, none of us is an expert and we must work together with someone, our vets or others who know MORE than we do. You might find this link helpful and talk to your vet about it: ***NO SUPPLEMENTING WITH VITAMIN E WHILE USING ARTEMISININ*** Home of High Quality Artemisinin Sincerely,'Joanne ( Benpaws) |

My 5yr old white Boxer Sadie just had a 2nd operation on her left hind leg to remove what we thought was a tumor regrowing. She has the 1st operation Oct 30, 2008, it was mast cell stage II. A week ofter the operation I noticed swelling. I started giving her tumeric 1/4 tsp 3X a day in her food. The swelling went down significantly. She had the 2nd operation Nov 20, 2008. The vet just phoned and said there were no signs of any Mast cell at all!!!! I don't really think the tumeric worked on the cancer, probably just the inflammation (without any harmful effects).
But I had been looking into Artemisinin. If the cancer returns I plan on using it. Please refer to the following sites: Research Papers/Info - Dog Cancer Treatment Australia - Artemisinin Cancer Smart Bomb, Part I Cancer Smart Bomb, Part I There are clinical trials ongoing using this herb/root with little or no side effects and it attacks all kinds of cancer with miraculous results. Good Luck... |

Artemisinin is being studied on humans at University of Washington in Seattle on breast cancer patients. The study is very encouraging. It has shrunk many tumors. We gave our dog Artemisinin on advice of the holistic vet. The dose is 100 mg twice a day. Do not give it with any meat product. I HIGHLY recommend its use. You are not supposed to use it during chemo but since you are not doing chemo or radiation right now, I'd go ahead with it. Another great supplement is Agaricus Bio, a mushroom supplement.
Keep us posted. TJ |

I am thinking of starting my dog Nik on Artemisinin.
He is a 37 lb chow mix recently diagnosed with synovial cell sarcoma in his left hip joint. I have him on 1200 mg of omega 3 fish oil a day, 200 mg of doxycycline for tumor suppression, colostrum and he eats a protein only raw diet. He has been unvaccinated since 2006 when I adopted him. He is of unknown age but most likely around 10. How much Artemisinin should I give him? Why can't I give it with meat? What could I give it to him with? He is difficult to pill, but is very food motivated and usually I just give my dogs their pills in raw ground beef or turkey. |

It binds with the iron containing food, like stated above. You can tuck it into a piece of cheese and your dog wont even know hes eating it. 100 mg morning and night is what our holistic vet recommended. Its a little pill. I gave it first thing in the morning, then took Dante for his walk and then fed him. Gave his evening dose right before bed.
