Some suggestions

Never worry about how much you write, the more information the better! My Cocker, Rocky had Lymphoma in Sept. 08 and survived for a year with chemo and holistic help. We gave him flax seed oil and cottage cheese blended for an afternoon snack as well as meds from K9 Immunity at Aloha Pharmaceuticals. He managed another year of very healthy activity. Make sure that each vet knows what you are doing so that there are no contradictory medicines taking place. Not that this is medical advice but make sure you spend as much time enjoying each other, lots of hugs and love for both of you. It's amazing how much that calms them down and makes your bond closer!
