Ralphie
Hello Everyone,
I was very happy to find this site after a horrible week. Our 7 yr old Lab/Chow mix Ralphie was diagnosed with multi-centric large cell lymphoma this past Wednesday. He had surgery on Monday to remove a growth in his lymph node in his neck and the surgeon also noticed that his tonsils were enlarged and removed those as well. All three biopsies came back with lymphoma. We went to a great Cancer Center on Thursday and we are still awaiting the results from the staging. Not sure whether it is T or B cell or whether it has entered his marrow. These things will determine the protocol but it looks like we will do chemo. After all the great advice here I went out and bought Wellness Core grain free food and will start switching him over to that today. I also bought Salmon oil to supplement the Omega 3's. I will be calling a local integrative vet on Monday to see what other things he suggests to help keep Ralphie comfortable.
Needless to say, we are all heartbroken and our kids (10&12) are too young to lose their "brother". He has been an amazing pet and we look forward to treasuring every day we have left with him. I am grateful to have found this site. Thank you to everyone!
