My dog Holly was on Metacam, in liquid form (not sure if this is the same as what you're talking about) for at least a year to help her manage pain from having a torn ACL surgically repaired (TPLO). She developed some arthritis in the joint several years after the surgery. We always gave it to her with her evening meal and it never seemed to bother her. Nor did there seem to be any adverse effects to her liver/kidneys. Are you at the point where you are titrating (reducing) the level to find out how little you need to use?
